DHL Global Forwarding is expanding its controlled air capacity on the Asia-Europe route by launching weekly cargo flights on the Shanghai-Leipzig and Liège-Hong Kong routes. The new service is being implemented in close cooperation with DHL Express and aims to strengthen the group’s position in the rapidly growing trade corridor between the two regions, providing customers with additional capacity, speed, and supply chain stability.

With the transition to the summer schedule, the flights will be operated with Boeing 777F aircraft. Leipzig has been selected as a key gateway for cargo from Shanghai due to its role as a major DHL Express air hub and its extensive operational infrastructure for handling cargo and subsequent distribution throughout Europe. The Liège-Hong Kong route, with a stopover in Tel Aviv, will maintain service stability in this market and, if necessary, accommodate limited loading and unloading operations. Return flights from Hong Kong are directly integrated into DHL’s European distribution network.

The company notes that strengthening its air network is part of a broader strategy to develop intercontinental transportation. Specifically, plans include increasing capacity on the trans-Pacific route between Southeast Asia and the United States. Combining the resources of DHL Global Forwarding and DHL Express allows them to offer customers more reliable and flexible solutions by leveraging shared infrastructure and operational synergies within the DHL Group.
