MRS Logística and Ocean Network Express (ONE) have inaugurated a new intermodal container route linking the Paulínia terminal in São Paulo state to the Port of Santos. The service utilizes the Katoen Natie facility as an inland port, integrating road drayage from the regional industrial cluster with the MRS rail network.

The operation targets the chemical, perishable, and consumer goods sectors. Cargo is consolidated at the Paulínia terminal before being transported by rail to Santos for integration into ONE’s global maritime network. A pilot shipment for a multinational chemical company was completed in December 2025, and the partners expect to scale to full operational capacity following the current trial phase.

The Paulínia terminal provides specialized infrastructure for multimodal transfers between regional road haulers and rail. By shifting containerized freight from the congested highways of the São Paulo interior to the 213 km rail segment, the service aims to improve transit predictability and reduce CO2 emissions per TEU. The route is part of a broader strategy to increase the market share of rail in the São Paulo hinterland, where it historically faces high competition from road transport.
