Kazakhstan and Georgia discussed the development of the Middle Corridor and new infrastructure projects.

Kazakhstan’s Minister of Transport, Nurlan Sauranbayev, held talks with Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, during which the parties focused on deepening trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. Particular attention was paid to developing cooperation in transport and logistics and improving the efficiency of international freight flows.

Meeting participants emphasized the need to coordinate efforts to attract additional transit freight volumes and further develop transport infrastructure, which should enhance the competitiveness of the Middle Corridor. The work of the joint venture between Kazakhstan, Georgia, and Azerbaijan Railways, which China joined in 2025, was particularly noted, increasing the level of coordination and stability of transportation along the route.

The Georgian side presented a number of strategic infrastructure initiatives, including the Anaklia deepwater port project and programs to modernize the railway’s locomotive and wagon fleet. Following the talks, both parties confirmed their mutual interest in further expanding cooperation and strengthening their partnership in the transport sector.
