According to a report by PwC Poland, the operations of the Port of Gdańsk generate, on average, over PLN 40 billion in tax revenue for the state budget annually – solely through cargo handling activities. In 2024, this figure reached PLN 44.6 billion, accounting for 6.5% of Poland’s total budgetary revenue and underscoring the strategic role of the country’s largest seaport.

The port’s economic impact extends far beyond the realm of logistics. In 2024, all activities associated with the port complex and its ecosystem generated approximately PLN 8.8 billion in additional revenue for public finances. According to PwC estimates, the economic impact of the port’s operations is equivalent to the construction of roughly 100,000 municipal apartments and covers more than 70% of the annual budget for the “Family 800+” program. Port President Dorota Pych emphasizes that these figures confirm the investment and social significance of Gdańsk’s infrastructure for the entire nation.

The report also highlights the port’s substantial impact on the labor market: while approximately 16,000 people are directly employed by port and operational companies, the total employment effect reaches 83,700 jobs across Poland. The income generated by the port’s activities supports the livelihoods of approximately 209,000 people and creates a significant multiplier effect for the economy of the Pomeranian Voivodeship and the country as a whole. As noted by PwC, the Port of Gdańsk is not merely a logistics hub, but one of the key pillars of Poland’s economic security and sustainable growth.
