Kazakhstan and Italy discussed the development of the Middle Corridor at a forum in Astana.

The Italy–Kazakhstan Supply Chain Forum 2026 was held in Astana, featuring a panel session dedicated to the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor). Representatives from the Kazakh Ministry of Transport, government agencies, international organizations, and Italian and international businesses participated in the event. The parties discussed key issues related to strengthening Kazakhstan’s role as a Eurasian transport and logistics hub, connecting Europe and Asia and facilitating the growth of transit and export flows.

Forum participants noted that the Middle Corridor has proven its sustainability and outlined priorities for future work: increasing the speed and economic attractiveness of transportation, synchronizing all route elements, developing infrastructure, digitalizing processes, and eliminating bottlenecks. The Italian side expressed its readiness to expand cooperation, including through projects to develop infrastructure, logistics services, and transport cooperation along the corridor.

The Kazakh side emphasized that the measures being implemented are creating a favorable investment environment and ensuring stable, transparent conditions for long-term investment in the transport sector. Participants believe that a comprehensive approach to route development will transform it from a transit option into a competitive logistics product in demand on the global market.
