At the offices of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia, the parties cemented a new phase of their partnership across the fields of port infrastructure development, logistics, industrial projects, and digital solutions. This signing marked the tangible outcome of negotiations initiated last autumn during the visit of Latvia’s Minister of Economics, Viktors Valainis, to the UAE. The signing ceremony was attended by representatives from both sides, executives from port companies, and officials from the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates.
The collaboration entails joint efforts across a range of specific initiatives within the Port of Riga: advancing the project for a new RoRo and cruise passenger terminal; developing the Kundziņsala industrial zone and a wind technology manufacturing complex; unlocking the potential of the Spilve Industrial Park; modernizing the port’s digital systems through the implementation of a “Single Window” mechanism and port community systems; and conducting preliminary feasibility studies for new investment projects. To facilitate this, a joint working group comprising specialized experts will be established.
AD Ports Group – which operates in over 50 countries and manages ports, industrial zones, and logistics networks as a unified ecosystem – views the Baltic region as a strategic gateway to Northern Europe. By the end of 2025, the company’s revenue had reached €4.8 billion, with assets totaling approximately €16 billion – figures that underscore its significant investment potential. The Port of Riga anticipates that this collaboration will attract new investments, boost the volume of ship calls and passenger traffic, and strengthen Latvia’s standing within regional logistics supply chains.
