Hupac has announced the launch of a new intermodal rail service between Duisburg and Barcelona. Operations will commence on June 22, 2026, with a frequency of three round trips per week. The first train is scheduled to depart from the Duisburg DGT terminal on June 22, while the inaugural service from Barcelona is set for June 24.

The Barcelona Combiconnect terminal will play a pivotal role in the development of this new connection, reinforcing its position as a rail hub linking Spain to the European intermodal transport network. According to the company, utilizing this terminal will ensure high levels of transport efficiency and reliability amidst growing demand for intermodal solutions in the Spanish market.

The launch of this new service will enable Hupac to increase transport capacity and enhance operational flexibility along the Germany–Spain corridor. Furthermore, customers will gain additional transport options via a network of connecting routes: connections to Tarragona, Madrid, and Seville are available from Barcelona, while links to Schwarzheide, Buna, and Břevnov are accessible from Duisburg.
