The new pilot vessel HAMBURG PILOT 3, which will soon be delivered to the customer, was successfully launched at the Baltic Workboats AS shipyard in Estonia. At the same time, construction of HAMBURG PILOT 4, which will replace the current vessel LOTSE 4, began. Both projects are part of the environmentally friendly modernization program of the Hamburg fleet.
The new generation of pilot vessels has been developed based on proven global standards. Unlike the previous five newbuilds, HAMBURG PILOT 3 and HAMBURG PILOT 4 are not equipped with a hybrid battery system, as it is less efficient for the specific tasks of pilotage. However, the vessels are prepared to operate on climate-neutral e-fuels, which will ensure their environmental friendliness in the future.
A significant moment of the keel laying ceremony of HAMBURG PILOT 4 was the traditional affixing of a €2 coin depicting St. Michaelis Church in Hamburg. Construction is on schedule and the vessel is scheduled to be delivered at the end of the year.
