The new CR450 electric train was unveiled in Beijing, having successfully passed tests at a speed of 450 km/h. The tests confirmed key parameters: reduced energy consumption, improved braking performance, and reduced noise levels in the cabin. The CR450 is designed to operate at a maximum speed of 400 km/h, and its design is 10% lighter and 22% more aerodynamically efficient than its predecessor, the CR400 Fuxing. Passenger comfort has also been improved, including a 4% increase in space and a 2 decibel reduction in noise.

The developers continue testing and optimizing the train with the goal of launching it into commercial operation as soon as possible. The CR450 is planned to run on the 292 km Chengdu-Chongqing line, the construction of which began in 2021. The line is designed for speeds of up to 400 km/h and is scheduled to be put into operation in 2027.

Previously, individual components of the CR450 were tested on the upgraded CR400. In 2023, the train reached a speed of 453 km/h on the Meizhou Bay Bridge, and the relative speed of two oncoming trains was a record 891 km/h, highlighting the technological progress of China’s railways.
