Rovshan Rustamov, Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways (ADY, part of AZCON Holding), met with Kaido Zimmermann, CEO of Estonian Railways. The parties noted the sustainable development of their partnership and discussed new opportunities to increase freight traffic from China to Europe along routes passing through Azerbaijan.

Rustamov emphasized that Estonia’s experience in digitalization and smart logistics could form the basis for joint projects, while Azerbaijan’s strategic location on the Middle Corridor provides Estonia and the entire Baltic region with effective access to Central Asia and China. He also noted that Azerbaijan is actively investing in the corridor’s development: the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars corridor’s capacity has been increased to 5 million tons per year, multimodal transportation has been accelerated by integrating the Port of Baku into ADY, and a joint venture has been established with Georgia and Kazakhstan to develop the route.

Kaido Zimmermann praised Azerbaijan’s efforts and expressed Estonian Railways’ interest in expanding cooperation with ADY. Following the meeting, the parties assured that deepening cooperation will strengthen regional connectivity and enable the creation of a modern, efficient, and sustainable transport system between Europe and Asia.
