ALG Company terminal in Almaty, Kazakhstan, undertakes strategic overhaul in partnership with HPC Hamburg Port Consulting

The ALG Company terminal in Almaty, Kazakhstan, is poised for a significant transformation to meet the escalating demand and rising transported volumes. Spearheading this evolution is HPC Hamburg Port Consulting, a Germany-based company specializing in strategic developments for rail terminals and other logistics sectors. The comprehensive planning framework devised by HPC involves a thorough analysis of operational data, market dynamics, volume projections, and an in-depth review of the current terminal concept, encompassing dwell times, train schedules, gate processes, loading and unloading procedures, and storage capacity.

Having completed the meticulous analysis, the next phase involves exploring transitional options and implementing necessary changes to optimize the ALG terminal’s operational model. The Almaty-based terminal handles a diverse range of cargo, including 20 and 40-foot containers, cars, breakbulk shipments, and large-scale equipment. Covering a vast 17-hectare area, the terminal has the capacity to process around 50,000 TEUs annually, providing warehousing and customs clearance services. Indira Tanirbergenova, CEO of ALG Company, emphasized that the revision of the terminal’s operational concept is driven by the evolving geopolitical landscape in Eurasian countries, leading to supply chain reconfigurations. She expressed confidence that collaboration with HPC will position the terminal to meet increased demand and contribute to the region’s trade growth amid shifting trade routes along the Middle Corridor connecting Asia with Europe overland.
