The Altynkol border station continues to play a key role in the development of transport links between Kazakhstan and China, serving as one of the central logistics hubs in Central Asia. Three major terminals operate here—the Dry Port of KTZE-Khorgos Gateway LLC, Eurotransit LLC, and Kedentransservice JSC—ensuring stable freight traffic along the Silk Road routes. Dozens of trains pass through Altynkol daily, and the container train transhipment time is only 55 minutes, made possible by highly automated and modern equipment.
The transhipment process is fully organized according to international standards: trains from China undergo border and customs control, radiation and technical inspections, and are then sent to the terminals. This work is carried out simultaneously by the station’s services and related departments, and paperwork and railcar tracking are carried out electronically. “We pay special attention to the safety and precision of our operations, because we’re talking not only about cargo, but also about people and the environment,” notes the station’s chief engineer, Eldar Baisakov.
Modern gantry cranes, stackers, and integrated container flow management systems allow for a significant increase in throughput. In the first nine months of 2025, the station’s freight turnover reached 11.9 million tons, 19% higher than last year and 81% higher than the OSJD plan. 5.8 million tons were shipped from Kazakhstan to China, and 6 million tons from China to Kazakhstan, confirming Altynkol’s status as a strategic link in Eurasian logistics.
