Over the past year, the Training and Education Center (TEC) at the Azerbaijan State Maritime Academy, subordinate to Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), has successfully carried out work to improve operational processes, form highly qualified personnel and adapt educational programs to high standards. The main attention was paid to the certification of sailors, training and practical exercises.
In 2023, the UOC conducted 890 courses for 10,470 students, including 26 foreign citizens. The training was conducted in Azerbaijani, English and Russian, corresponding to the languages of the participating countries. Following last year’s successful audit, four new training programs were confirmed to be introduced, including training of trainers in the areas of Low Speed Liferaft Specialist, DP Skills Training and Assessment, DP Operator Traineeship Program and Marine Familiarization Course.
ASCO, which has been operating for 10 years, provides a wide range of training and practical training services for seafarers, as well as certification. The center is equipped with modern classrooms, simulators, a swimming pool and marine equipment, and its trainings are accredited by the State Maritime and Port Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the American Bureau of Shipping.
