Container transportation of Ukrzaliznytsia increased by 28%.

In 2024, Ukrzaliznytsia increased its container transportation volume by 28% compared to 2023, transporting 258,185 TEU. The bulk of cargo was exported – 162,725 TEU (63%), import accounted for 55,689 TEU (21.3%), domestic transportation amounted to 38,681 TEU (15%), and transit – 1,190 TEU (0.5%).

Mabanaft invests in methanol storage in Germany.

Mabanaft plans to build a methanol storage infrastructure at the Blumensand terminal to supply low-carbon methanol to northern Germany. This will support customers switching to cleaner fuels. The company expects demand for methanol to grow in the shipping, transport and chemical industries.

voestalpine, LogServ and RCG have signed a long-term logistics contract.

voestalpine Rohstoffbeschaffung GmbH, Logistik Service GmbH (LogServ) and Rail Cargo Group (RCG) have signed a new logistics cooperation agreement that will enable the transport of around 10 million tonnes of raw materials and finished products annually over the next three years. The contract was concluded at voestalpine’s Linz site.

SF Airlines opened its first cargo route between Ezhou and Oslo.

On January 14, 2025, SF Airlines’ first cargo aircraft took off from Ezhou Huahu Airport in China to Oslo, launching a new route between Ezhou and Oslo. The flight was SF Airlines’ first destination in Norway and the first direct route from Ezhou to the country, said Eva Beate Lande, Director of Cargo at Norwegian carrier Avinor.

Construction of a new entry/exit point has begun at the Port of Rijeka.

On 21 January 2025, the Port of Rijeka Authority signed a contract with Kolektor Koling d.o.o. from Slovenia for the construction of a new entry-exit point in the western part of the Rijeka Basin. The cost of the project is 831,328.01 euros including VAT, and the work is planned to be completed in 147 days. The new point will be located at the end of the internal port road connecting the western part of the port and the future Rijeka Gateway container terminal with the state road DC 403.

Kazakhstan is recognized as a logistics leader in Central Asia.

Kazakhstan took first place among Central Asian countries in the Logistics Performance Index (LPI) ranking, taking 95th place out of 139 countries with a score of 2.7 points. It was followed by Uzbekistan (107th place, 2.6 points), Tajikistan (124th place, 2.5 points) and Kyrgyzstan (133rd place, 2.3 points). Thus, Kazakhstan demonstrates the best efficiency of logistics infrastructure and customs procedures in the region.

New barge connection between Moerdijk and Duisburg.

From 3 February 2025, A2B-online, WEC Lines, Tailwind Shipping Lines and Danser Group are launching the new barge line MDC (Moerdijk – Duisburg Corridor). The route will be operated by the vessel ms TRANQUILO with a frequency of twice a week between the port of Moerdijk (CCT) and the Duisburg Gateway Terminal (DGT). The schedule includes departures from Moerdijk on Mondays and Wednesdays, and in the opposite direction on Tuesdays and Fridays. More frequencies are planned in the future.

Maersk discusses investments in Ukraine’s transport sector.

First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko held a meeting with Chairman of the Board of Directors of Maersk Robert Maersk Uggla, during which they discussed potential investments in the modernization of the country’s transport infrastructure. According to the government representative, concession projects in ports aimed at improving trade logistics and attracting private capital are currently being actively implemented.

DACHSER has fully integrated the Finnish subsidiary into its network.

DACHSER has completed the acquisition of 100% of the shares in the Finnish joint venture DACHSER Finland Oy, strengthening its road transport network in Northern Europe. The joint venture, established in 2013 with ACE Logistics Group, is fully integrated into DACHSER’s Northern European logistics structure under the leadership of Managing Director Peter Huth. Customers in the region will now benefit from comprehensive transport and logistics services for industrial, consumer goods and food, as well as close integration with air and sea freight.
