“KAZLOGISTICS” leads successful business trip to China, sealing agreements worth over $89 million

From January 22-26, KAZLOGISTICS orchestrated a productive business trip to China in collaboration with the China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing. The delegation engaged in a comprehensive agenda in Beijing, including meetings with the China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing and the Supply Chain Group. In Lianyungang, a strategic memorandum of cooperation was signed between KAZLOGISTICS and the International Freight Railway Express Alliance, following discussions with the Port Group Lianyungang and a visit to the Sino-Kazakh Logistics Cooperation Base. The delegation continued its journey in Qingdao, holding discussions with the prominent logistics company WORLD JAGUAR LOGISTICS and exploring the Central Asian Goods Exhibition Center in the SCO zone.

Project “Social Partnership” with STK “KAZLOGISTICS”: Evaluation of results and preparation for audit in Astana

The meeting of the coordinators of the Social Partnership project and a representative of the industry partner – STC “KAZLOGISTICS” in Astana on January 25 focused on analyzing the results of the project for 2023 and preparing for the upcoming audit in June. Key points were discussed, including the achievement of project indicators, prospects for continuation in the next stages, participation in events in Bishkek and Astana, as well as the development of a set of documents on social partnership for KAZLOGISTICS members. There are also plans to prepare a video meeting on cooperation between IBU+IHK+KAZLOGISTICS on February 22.

TMTM forecasts the transportation of 4 million tons of cargo in 2024 and discusses the development of routes at the General Meeting in Ankara

“The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route” (TITR) plans to transport 4 million tons of cargo this year. The round table, including representatives of financial institutions, the global multimodal digital platform DTC Global and shippers from Kazakhstan and Turkey, discussed trends, challenges and prospects for the development of TMTM, within the framework of which plans and tariffs for the current year were approved, as well as steps to intensify activities and prospects for expanding routes were outlined.

Port of Rotterdam opens first charging station for electric trucks

In collaboration with Truckparkings Rotterdam Exploitatie (TRE), the Port of Rotterdam Authority inaugurated the inaugural electric truck charging station within the port. Located at the Bodaanweg truck park in Waalhaven, this facility accommodates up to eight electric trucks simultaneously, marking a significant stride towards sustainable road transport. Recognizing that approximately 70% of regional container journeys involve short distances, the introduction of electric trucks aims to enhance environmental cleanliness and contribute to achieving CO2-neutral freight transport.

Contargo joins forces with DistriRail as new co-partner in rail transport

After receiving approval from antitrust authorities, Contargo has officially become a new co-partner of the Dutch rail operator, DistriRail B.V. Previously, duisport and Van Donge & de Roo B.V. each held a 50 percent stake in DistriRail until January 1, 2024. Now, with equal distribution, Contargo, duisport, and Van Donge & de Roo B.V. each own one third of the shares. The management of the company will be a collaborative effort among all three partners, ensuring an independent board.

The EU allocates 10 billion euros for the Trans-Caspian transport corridor

The Global Gateway Investors Forum for EU-Central Asia Transport Connectivity kicked off in Brussels, uniting stakeholders from governments, financing institutions, businesses, and civil society across Europe, Central Asia, and beyond. European Commission Executive Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis announced a substantial commitment of €10 billion from European and international financial institutions to support sustainable transport connectivity in Central Asia. This initiative is particularly crucial in light of the urgency to establish reliable trade routes between Europe and Asia, avoiding transit through Russia, emphasized by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Yusen Logistics joins Korean Air’s Cargo SAF program

Yusen Logistics Co., Ltd., led by President Hiroyuki Okamoto, is actively participating in Korean Air’s Cargo SAF Program starting January 2024. This collaboration aims to boost the utilization of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) as part of Korean Air’s initiative to achieve net-zero emissions in the aviation industry. Launched in September 2023, the Cargo SAF Program involves cooperative efforts with shippers and forwarders, incorporating various measures such as governmental partnerships, engagement with fuel suppliers, and collaboration with aircraft manufacturers. In a strategic move to support sustainability objectives, Yusen Logistics has signed a contract with Korean Air for 2024, leveraging their “Yusen Book-and-Claim” service to assist customers in reaching their sustainability targets and fostering increased demand for SAF.

Now it’s official: the Port of Antwerp has reached a draft of 16 meters for the largest container ships

Antwerp port has successfully completed a three-year initiative to enhance its infrastructure, enabling it to accommodate container ships with a draft of 16 meters. This significant achievement positions Antwerp as the premier port of call for the world’s largest ships. The collaborative effort involved six meticulous test voyages, with the final trial featuring the MSC Raya on November 10, 2023. Today, MSC Aurora marks the first container ship to navigate Antwerp with a 16-meter draft under the regular admission policy, signifying the official implementation of this crucial advancement.

KTZ Express enhances ties with chinese logistics leaders

KTZ Express JSC successfully completed a road show in China, where productive negotiations took place with leading representatives of the transport and logistics industry, including CRIMT, China Logistics Group, Jiangsu International Rail Freight Express, Pinduoduo and Henan Zhongyu International Port Group. Agreements have been concluded on fruitful cooperation with CRIMT, Henan Zhongyu International Port Group and Pinduoduo, aimed at increasing cargo transportation through Kazakhstan, especially with a focus on TMTM, as well as beginning to integrate information systems to optimize logistics processes.
