The Council of State of Italy has finally confirmed the legality of the tender for the construction of a new terminal in the port of La Spezia.

On November 27, 2025, the Council of the State of Italy, in its decision, definitively rejected the appeal of FINCOSIT S.r.l. and the other second-place consortium members, upholding the decision of the Regional Administrative Court of Liguria No. 982/2025. Thus, the country’s highest administrative court recognized the tender process for the construction of a new terminal at the Ravano quay in the port of La Spezia as fully legal.

DB InfraGO has invested more than 19 billion euros in the development of Germany’s railway infrastructure by 2025.

German rail infrastructure operator DB InfraGO, part of the Deutsche Bahn Group, has summarized its 2025 results, reporting infrastructure projects worth over €19 billion. During the year, the company built and renovated 2,173 km of track, replaced 2,065 switches, and modernized 950 stations out of the approximately 5,700 stations in the national network.

Solid Port has commissioned new fertilizer warehouses in the Free Zone of the Port of Gdansk.

Solid Port, the operator, has completed a new investment project at the Free Trade Zone (WOC) quay of the Port of Gdansk, constructing two warehouse complexes for storing organic fertilizers. The facilities, built on land leased from the port for a period of 30 years, consist of tent-covered steel structures measuring 40 x 60 meters each with a ridge height of 14.5 meters. The walls and roof are made of durable PVC coating, allowing the warehouses to efficiently store bulk agricultural cargo in big bags with a capacity of 500, 600, and 1,000 kg, stacked up to four high. The total storage capacity at the site reaches 12,160 tons.

LTG Infra has announced an international tender for the design of the Rail Baltica section to the border with Latvia.

LTG Infra, an infrastructure company within the LTG Group responsible for the Rail Baltica project in Lithuania, has announced an open international tender for the design of the railway section from Panevėžys to the Lithuanian-Latvian border. This section is approximately 54 kilometers long. The company emphasized that the selection of a designer is expected to be completed soon, with design work scheduled to begin next year.

At its October meeting, the Board of Directors of the International Union of Combined Road and Rail Transport (UIRR) decided to implement a rotating presidency, effective January 1, 2026. After eighteen months at the helm of the association, the current chairman, Hupac Group CEO Mihail Stahlhut, is handing over his powers to the current Vice Chairman and CEO of Contargo, Jürgen Albersmann. Metrans CEO Petr Kiš has been elected as the new Vice Chairman, while Stahlhut will continue to serve on the UIRR Board of Directors.

An Italian court has finally upheld the legality of the tender for the construction of a new terminal in the port of La Spezia.

On November 27, 2025, the Italian Council of State finally rejected the appeal of FINCOSIT S.r.l. and the other consortium members, the second-place winners in the tender for the construction of a new terminal at the Ravano quay in the port of La Spezia. Thus, the highest administrative court upheld the decision of the Regional Administrative Court of Liguria No. 982/2025 and recognized the tender procedure as fully legal, confirming the legitimacy of the actions of La Spezia Container Terminal S.p.A. and the tender winner.

Hungary: EUR 2.2 billion rail renovation programme for 2026.

Hungary’s railway infrastructure manager will include HUF 60 billion (approx. EUR 155 million) from its own resources in its 2026 business plan for maintenance and renewals, in addition to the HUF 800 billion (approx. EUR 2.07 billion) earmarked for infrastructure development through joint funding by the Hungarian state and the European Investment Bank (EIB).
