Wabtec Corporation has completed the acquisition of Frauscher Sensor Technology Group, a global supplier of axle counters, train-detection systems and wayside monitoring solutions. The deal, valued at €675 million, strengthens Wabtec’s signalling and Digital Intelligence portfolio.

METRANS launched the first container train to Debica and integrated the terminal into its European network.

METRANS completed its maiden container train journey to the ProClean terminal in Debice, officially launching its cooperation with the new partner facility. From this moment on, the terminal becomes a full-fledged part of METRANS’s European intermodal network, gaining direct connections to all key European seaports and access to the company’s unified logistics infrastructure.

Stena Line and ABP are investing more than £200 million in a new cargo terminal at the Port of Immingham.

Stena Line, in partnership with Associated British Ports (ABP), is developing a new freight ferry terminal at the Port of Immingham. Total investment in the project exceeds £200 million. The new East End Ro-Ro Terminal (IERRT) will expand access to the Humber Estuary, reduce crossing times, and accommodate larger vessels, which is particularly important given the growing demand for unaccompanied cargo flows between the UK and Europe.

Latvia expects to receive Stadler diesel trains from Estonia as early as 2026.

Latvian passenger operator Pasažieru vilciens (Vivi) is considering leasing Stadler diesel trains from Estonian carrier Elron. According to Raitis Nešpors, Chairman of the Board of PV, Estonia is purchasing new Škoda electric trains as part of its network electrification program, which will potentially free up some of its diesel fleet. Leasing is currently being discussed, as Estonia is not yet ready to completely phase out its existing diesel trains. It is anticipated that the first two trains could be delivered to Latvia as early as next year.

Lineas and FS Logistix launched Modalink to develop intermodal transport in Europe.

Lineas and FS Logistix officially opened the Modalink joint venture at the Antwerp Mainhub terminal, where the new operator will manage terminal infrastructure and develop intermodal services between the Port of Antwerp and European destinations.
