Kazakhstan and China are expanding cooperation in transport and logistics.

A business forum dedicated to the development of Kazakh-Chinese cooperation in the transport and logistics sectors was held in Almaty. The event was attended by about 80 business representatives, including the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). The key topics were the implementation of joint projects and attracting investment.

Ukraine and the EU are creating a single logistics space.

The Ukrainian government is actively working on integrating logistics systems with the European Union, said Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. The key areas are transport liberalization, modernization of border infrastructure, and joint customs control. Particular attention is paid to the “visa-free transport” that exempts Ukrainian carriers from obtaining permits to enter the EU, as well as the development of digital solutions, such as the eCherga system, which is already operating at 28 checkpoints.

The transport sector of Kazakhstan is showing steady growth.

In January 2025, Kazakhstan’s transport performance improved significantly. The physical volume index (PVI) of the Transport and Warehousing sector increased by 119%, indicating the high dynamics of the industry’s development. During the month, 90.3 million tons of cargo were transported, which is 18.2% more than a year earlier, and passenger traffic amounted to 143.2 million people (+ 15.4%).

GTS Next opens a certified private customs warehouse in Bari.

GTS Next, part of the GTS Spa group, has announced the opening of a new certified private customs warehouse in Bari. The inauguration is scheduled for February 17, 2025 and will be an important milestone in the development of the company, strengthening its position in the international logistics market. The project was implemented with the participation of the Overseas and Customs division of GTS Spa, and the experts Milena Calabrese and Maurizio Fasulo ensured the creation of a modern infrastructure that meets the dynamic requirements of the global market.

Kazakhstan and Iran strengthen North-South trade ties.

The management of Kazlogistics STK and the international holding Eurasian Caspian Trans discussed the development of transit transportation along the North-South corridor during a meeting in Astana. The focus is on strengthening economic ties and expanding cooperation with Iran, which intends to increase trade turnover with Kazakhstan to $3 billion. In 2024, grain supplies to Iran doubled, reaching 526 thousand tons.

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will build an industrial and logistics center on the border.

The Industrial Cooperation Center “Central Asia” will appear on the border of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The bill on ratification of the intergovernmental agreement was approved by the Majilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan. The new hub will be located next to the automobile checkpoints “Atameken” and “Gulistan”, providing convenient logistics between the two countries.

Yusen Logistics has opened a modern logistics centre in Bottrop.

Yusen Logistics (Deutschland) GmbH, together with developer Prologis and key partners including the government, the city of Bottrop and Mitsubishi Electric Europe B.V., have officially opened a new logistics centre. The ceremony took place on the premises of the warehouse and included a traditional ribbon cutting and the Japanese ritual of “kagami-biraki” – breaking a sake barrel, symbolising a successful start to operations. The event was attended by Chairman and CEO of Yusen Logistics Co., Ltd. Hiroki Harada, who travelled from Japan especially to attend the opening.
