Kazakhstan and Turkey signed an agreement to simplify cargo transportation, which opens up new prospects for trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has already signed a law ratifying this agreement, which is aimed at facilitating transit on railway lines, speeding up the border clearance process for container trains, as well as for rail ferry and Ro-Ro operations.

A notable example of this trend is the launch of multimodal cargo transportation between China and Tajikistan through Kulob station in November 2022. As part of this transportation, cargo is delivered through Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey and Iran to its destination. This initiates not only the development of the trans-Afghan railway, but also ensures access for Kazakh and Uzbek cargo to Iranian ports on the Indian Sea.

Baltic Ground Services (BGS), a global leader in ground handling and logistics, has announced the extension of its service agreement with Turkish Cargo for another three years. This renewal underscores the longstanding partnership between BGS and Turkish Cargo, the air cargo arm of Turkish Airlines, dating back to 2013 when BGS commenced operations in Vilnius.
KTZ Express, in collaboration with the Pakistani company National Logistics Cell, has launched a new pilot project of a multimodal export route from Kazakhstan to the UAE. This route passes through Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan, and then the cargo is delivered by sea to the port of Jebel Ali.

In a bid to diversify cargo flows to Azerbaijan, “ADY Express” has achieved a milestone by efficiently transporting 30 thousand tons of agricultural fertilizers from Kazakhstan to European markets. The shipment, comprising ammonium nitrate from JSC “KazAzot,” was seamlessly transshipped at the ports of Govsan and Alyat before being dispatched to Georgia. Plans are underway to significantly upscale this operation by the year’s end, signaling a promising trajectory for trade collaboration in the region.
