A new pilot boat for Hamburg has been launched in Estonia.

The new pilot vessel HAMBURG PILOT 3, which will soon be delivered to the customer, was successfully launched at the Baltic Workboats AS shipyard in Estonia. At the same time, construction of HAMBURG PILOT 4, which will replace the current vessel LOTSE 4, began. Both projects are part of the environmentally friendly modernization program of the Hamburg fleet.

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan strengthen cooperation in rail transport.

JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) and JSC Uzbekistan Temir Yollari held talks on the development of freight rail transportation between the countries. The discussion was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC Uzbekistan Temir Yollari Abdumalik Kamiljanov, Head of JSC KTZ – Freight Transportation Vladimir Petrov and representatives of relevant departments. The main focus was on increasing the volume of transportation, forming freight trains and organizing regular traffic on the China – Kazakhstan – Uzbekistan route.

ONE has launched a new service, Vietnam China Express (VCX).

Ocean Network Express (ONE) has announced the launch of its new container service, Vietnam China Express (VCX), which will expand logistics capabilities between Vietnam, China and Hong Kong. The inaugural voyage, MV HAIAN ALFA (voyage 045S), will depart from Ho Chi Minh City Port on April 16. The route includes Ho Chi Minh City – Hai Phong – Nansha – Hong Kong – Hai Phong – Ho Chi Minh City ports with a 14-day cycle and weekly frequency.

The 87th session of the UNECE Inland Transport Committee was held in Geneva.

The 87th session of the UNECE Inland Transport Committee (ITC) was held in Geneva, which became key in the implementation of the Strategy until 2030. The event was attended by representatives of more than 20 countries, including Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, EU countries, as well as international organizations and businesses. The main topics of discussion were transport policy, economic cooperation and sustainable development of the industry.

RB Rail AS has applied for funding for the construction of 5G infrastructure for Rail Baltica.

RB Rail AS, representing the ministries of the three Baltic countries in the Rail Baltica project, submitted an application for funding under the CEF-Digital programme on 13 February 2025. The funds are needed for the development and construction of railway radio communications compliant with the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) standard, as well as for ensuring 5G coverage along the European transport network (TEN-T).

Kazakhstan and China are expanding cooperation in transport and logistics.

A business forum dedicated to the development of Kazakh-Chinese cooperation in the transport and logistics sectors was held in Almaty. The event was attended by about 80 business representatives, including the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). The key topics were the implementation of joint projects and attracting investment.

Euroports will operate EFGL’s service base in Port-La Nouvelle.

EFGL has chosen Euroports to operate a maintenance base at Port-La Nouvelle. This decision reinforces the port’s position as a key hub for renewable energy development in the Mediterranean. The new terminal will not only support the construction phase, but also provide long-term operation and maintenance (O&M) for the floating wind project.

Lithuania will allocate 1.6 billion euros for the development of highways.

Lithuania will invest 1.57 billion euros in the modernization and maintenance of its road network over the next three years, the country’s Transport Ministry reported. In 2024, 583.4 million euros have been allocated for these purposes, and 493.4 million euros in 2026 and 2027 each. Financing for national roads will amount to 336.9 million euros in 2024 and 269.9 million euros in the following two years.
