HHLA demonstrates sustainable growth in financial performance for the first nine months of 2024.

Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) increased its revenue by 8.5% to €1,182.9 million in the first three quarters of 2024. Operating profit (EBIT) increased by 23.2% to €93.2 million, while net profit amounted to €23.1 million, almost double the previous year’s figure. The improved financial results were driven by increased transport volumes, higher container storage fees at the Port of Hamburg and the expansion of the European network.

EU coordinator discussed the implementation of Rail Baltica in Latvia.

The European Coordinator of the North-Baltic TEN-T Corridor, Katrin Trotman, paid a working visit to Riga. The main topic of discussion was the implementation of the Rail Baltica project in Latvia, including the development of the cross-border connection within the first stage. At a meeting with Latvian ministers, Trotman noted that the project has successfully attracted European funding: within the latest Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) 2023 call, Rail Baltica received approximately €1.43 billion, of which €1.16 billion was provided by the CEF and €261 million by the three Baltic States.

Port of Rotterdam tests digital bunkering system.

The Port of Rotterdam, ZeroNorth and Vitol have completed their first digital bunker delivery, launching a four-week trial of the electronic Bunker Delivery Note (eBDN). As part of the project, Vitol will carry out three to four bunkerings using the ZeroNorth solution. The aim of the trial is to evaluate the benefits of the digital format, such as time savings, increased operational efficiency and improved data quality.

In Aktau, the creation of a trade and distribution center was discussed jointly with Uzbekistan.

In Aktau, a meeting was held between the seaport management and the delegation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, dedicated to the development of economic cooperation between the countries. The central topic of discussion was the initiative to create a trade and distribution center that will be able to promote Uzbek products on the Kazakhstan market and ensure the transshipment of goods to third countries.

The ports of Rijeka and Los Angeles signed a memorandum of cooperation.

A delegation from Los Angeles, led by US Ambassador Natalie Reyes, visited the Port of Rijeka. During the visit, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Port of Rijeka Authority and the largest US port, the Port of Los Angeles. The document was signed by Deputy CEO of the Port of Los Angeles David Libatique and CEO of the Port of Rijeka Denis Vukorepa.
