DACHSER opens new LCL logistics hub near Rotterdam.

DACHSER has opened a new container freight terminal (CFS) in Waddinquain near Rotterdam, creating a central hub for LCL export shipments. The company consolidates groupage shipments from customers in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, as well as parts of Austria and Eastern Europe, in its own logistics center in Waddinquain and ships them via the Port of Rotterdam.

DHL and IAG Cargo expand partnership to reduce emissions.

DHL Express and DHL Global Forwarding are strengthening their environmental commitment by extending their contract with IAG Cargo, the cargo division of the International Aviation Group (IAG). Under the new agreement, DHL will use an additional 60 million litres of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in 2024 and 2025, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 165,000 tonnes of CO2e.

Four new STS cranes arrived at the Baltic Hub in Gdansk.

Four modern STS harbour cranes arrived at the T3 terminal in Baltic Hub in Gdansk on 27 October 2024. These powerful machines, fully assembled, arrived from China and are the first of seven cranes that will increase the handling capacity of Baltic Hub by 1.5 million TEU in 2025.

Anaklia Port in Georgia to receive first ship by 2029.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has announced that the country’s first deep-sea port in Anaklia will receive its first vessel by 2029, possibly even earlier. Construction work has already begun, and the official opening ceremony took place on October 22. In the first stage, the Belgian company Jan De Nul will deepen the seabed to create conditions for receiving large-tonnage vessels.
