Kazakhstan is increasing its grain export potential.

Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Kairat Torebayev said at a government meeting that the country’s export potential for grain crops is 12 million tons, including 7-7.5 million tons of wheat, 1.4 million tons of barley, 1 million tons of oilseeds and 300 thousand tons of corn. The main growth in exports was to China, where Kazakhstan supplied 538.8 thousand tons of wheat this year, which is almost 15 times more than last year.

Klaipeda port received permission to build a new southern complex.

The Port of Klaipeda is embarking on one of the largest projects in its history — the construction of a 100-hectare complex in the southern territory of the port; a construction permit has already been received. This project includes the creation of a modern marina, a children’s sailing school and infrastructure for water recreation, which will be an important step towards the development of the port and cultural traditions of Lithuania, explained Algis Latakas, Director General of the Port Authority.

The Port of Constanta will implement an advanced interaction system for port participants.

A consortium led by the Romanian IT company Critical Technologies SRL and the German HPC Hamburg Port Consulting, together with the Estonian partners EN Shipping OÜ and Saaresalu OÜ, has completed the development of the specification for the Port Community System for the Port of Constanta. The goal of the project is to improve communication and increase the efficiency of the port through the implementation of an advanced digital system.

DACHSER implements technologies to reduce emissions and save fuel.

DACHSER plans to equip 200 of its vehicles in Germany with state-of-the-art SCALAR devices from ZF Friedrichshafen by the end of 2024. These devices help drivers to optimize their driving style, reducing fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions. As part of the climate strategy, DACHSER and its trainers train its own drivers and those of its partners in fuel-efficient driving, which helps to reduce diesel consumption by four liters per 100 km and reduce emissions by an average of 12%.

Kazakhstan and China discussed prospects for border rail transport.

The XXXIII meeting of the Joint Commissions of Border Railways of Kazakhstan and China was held in Urumqi (PRC). The participants summed up the work of railway crossings between the two countries for the first nine months of 2024 and discussed transportation plans until the end of the year. Preliminary volumes of freight traffic for 2025 and the freight train schedule for 2024-2025 were also agreed upon.

KTZ: meeting with shippers and plans for infrastructure development.

A working meeting of the management of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy with the largest shippers of the region was held in Karaganda, where they discussed factors affecting freight transportation. The Karaganda branch occupies a strategically important place in the railway network of Kazakhstan, annually handling about 50 million tons of cargo, which is a fifth of the total freight turnover of KTZ.
