The port of Klaipeda received the Eco Umande ship running on green methanol for the first time.

The Port of Klaipeda has become one of the leaders in environmental protection among European seaports. Singapore-based shipping company X-Press Feeders has included the Port of Klaipeda in the route of its container ships powered by green methanol. The vessel using this sustainable fuel, Eco Umande, has called at the port for the first time, starting a new era of environmentally friendly shipping. Eco Umande will call at the port every two weeks.

Rail Baltica: Construction of a section with a deep trench has begun in Estonia.

Estonia is taking a significant step forward in implementing the large-scale Rail Baltica project. A contract has been signed for the construction of a unique section of the railway line, where part of the route will pass through a deep trench. This 9.2-kilometre section between the villages of Soodevahe and Kangru will be one of the most unusual on the entire route. Its construction will cost €70.8 million and will be carried out jointly by OÜ Verston and OÜ Järelpinge Inseneribüroo.

Orlen has received exclusive access to the Klaipeda LNG terminal for deliveries to Poland and the Baltics.

Polish refiner Orlen has signed a long-term agreement with Lithuania’s KN Energies, giving it exclusive access to the Klaipeda terminal for small-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) transhipment. This will allow the company to increase gas supplies to north-eastern Poland and the Baltics. The new agreement will be valid until March 2030.

It is expected that in 2024, the volume of transportation along the TITR will increase from 2.7 to 4.2 million tons.
