Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan discussed the construction of a new railway.

At the first transport trade and export forum in Aktau, representatives of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan discussed the prospects for the construction of a new railway line Turgundi – Herat – Kandahar – Spin Buldak. This line should pass from the western border of Turkmenistan through Afghanistan and Pakistan, reaching India, which opens up new opportunities for regional trade.

DHL and Google team up for green  air cargo transportation.

DHL and Google, one of the world’s largest tech giants, have announced a partnership to use the DHL Express GoGreen Plus service with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The initiative will support express deliveries of Google devices in the Devices & Services division around the world, including the Americas, Asia and Europe. It is part of Google’s commitment to supporting decarbonization in air freight.

The EU is funding the integration of Ukrainian railways into the European system.

Within the framework of the European Union’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program, a project to integrate the Ukrainian railway system into the EU transport system was approved. The Coordination Committee of the program approved the application on July 16, 2024. The project envisages the improvement of the railway network and the development of the 1435 mm track to ensure the technological sum and increase the capacity of the railway infrastructure

The Port of Szczecin is being updated: investments in modernization worth PLN 245 million.

The Port Authority of Szczecin and Świnoujście SA is the leader in the region in terms of investment volume. Currently, one of the two flagship projects is being implemented in the Port of Szczecin: “Improving access to the Port of Szczecin in the Kashubian Basin”. The aim of the modernization is the continuous development of the ports, increasing the volume of handled cargo and increasing the competitiveness of the port complex of Szczecin and Świnoujście in the Baltic Sea basin.

The EEC discussed the development of railway transport within the EAEU.

At a meeting of the Subcommittee on Railway Transport of the Advisory Committee of the Eurasian Economic Commission, key issues of railway transport development were discussed. Subcommittee members considered the improvement of the provisions of the Treaty on the EAEU and the feasibility of scientific research on the prospects for the development of railway transport in modern economic conditions. They also discussed the section of the roadmap for the implementation of the Declaration on the Development of Economic Processes within the EAEU until 2030 and for the period until 2045, concerning railway transport.
