Rhenus acquires stake in C Chez Vous and enters the French delivery market.

Rhenus, Europe’s leading home goods delivery operator, has acquired a 15% stake in French logistics company C Chez Vous from Geopost. The deal, concluded on June 28, 2024, allows Rhenus to enter the French home delivery market for the first time. Singapore port crisis: Cargo delays reach critical level.

Ship congestion and cargo delays at Singapore’s port have reached critical levels since the COVID-19 pandemic as container lines reroute around the Red Sea. The crisis is also affecting other Asian and European ports, leaving industries grappling with rising tariffs, the need to find alternate ports and a shortage of empty containers. Global port congestion has reached an 18-month high, with 60% of ships idled at anchorages in Asia, according to analyst firm Linerlytica.

A new alliance of logistics centers and cargo carriers was created under the auspices of OTG.

A new Alliance of Logistics Centers and Cargo Carriers has been launched under the aegis of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) following its inaugural meeting on June 28, 2024, in Tashkent. The meeting, chaired by OTS Deputy Secretary General Dr. Mirvokhid Azimov, attracted over 100 participants, including representatives from more than 30 major logistics centers, ports, and transport companies from OTS member states. High-level officials from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Customs Committee, along with diplomatic missions from OTS countries, also attended the event.

CMA CGM launches FRENCH PEAK SERVICE to increase shipping capacity.

CMA CGM Group has introduced the FRENCH PEAK SERVICE, an exceptional seasonal shipping service, to address the surge in demand for maritime transport between Asia, Northern Europe, and the Mediterranean. From June 30 to early September, seven additional vessels with a capacity of 7,000 TEUs will depart bi-weekly from China to various destinations, including Northern Europe (Le Havre, Antwerp) and the Mediterranean (Fos-sur-Mer, Malta). The first departure, featuring the vessel APL OREGON, is set for June 30 from Yantian.
