Ukrainian Railways surges with 23% growth in cargo transport

In 2023, Ukrainian Railways (UZ) achieved a notable milestone by transporting 148.4 million tonnes of cargo, marking a significant increase in monthly volumes between March and December compared to the previous year. With an average monthly cargo volume exceeding 12 million tonnes, the positive trend was especially evident in November, where 14.1 million tonnes were transported. UZ attributes this impressive 23% growth to the successful restoration of Ukraine’s maritime export corridor in the Black Sea, a feat accomplished by the country’s military and special forces.

Turkmenbashi seaport welcomes first cargo ships from Baku in 2024

Turkmenbashi International Seaport in Turkmenistan welcomed the first cargo shipments of the year from Baku, Azerbaijan, as reported by Trend. On January 11, the cargo ship Türkmenistan, followed by the Magtymguly with containers, docked at the container terminal berth. The Caspian Sea route between Turkmenbashi International Seaport and Baku International Commercial Seaport is efficiently served by the Turkmen RO-PAX class Berkarar and Bagtyyar passenger ships, each capable of accommodating 54 trucks and 200 passengers, completing the journey in just 12 hours.
