Kazakhstan and Georgia strengthen cooperation in developing the Middle Corridor.

Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Nurlan Sauranbayev and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Mariam Kvrivishvili discussed key areas of cooperation in the field of transport and logistics, focusing on the strategic importance of the Middle Corridor. In 2024, the volume of freight traffic between the countries reached almost a million tons by road and over 2.7 million tons by rail.

Armenia plans to create a state-owned company to develop transport infrastructure.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced plans to create a national company that will implement large-scale infrastructure projects, including in the transport and energy sectors. The initiative is being discussed as part of preparations for the signing of a peace agreement with Azerbaijan and is aimed at attracting investment in the Crossroads of Peace project.

The Port of Rotterdam has entrusted Vialis with the complete renovation of the Rosenburg Lock.

The Rozenburg Lock, through which around 20,000 ships pass each year, is preparing for a major renovation. The Port of Rotterdam Authority has signed a contract with Vialis, which will undertake the next stage of the modernisation of the complex, as well as long-term maintenance. The agreement was concluded between Berte Simons, Chief Operating Officer of the Port, and Max Mørke, Managing Director of Vialis.

Ukraine and Austria are strengthening cooperation in logistics and the international postal arena.

Deputy Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine Andriy Bratus held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to Ukraine Martin Robert Müller. The main topic was mutual assistance in the elections to the governing bodies of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), which will be held in September 2025 in Dubai. Ukraine is applying for membership in the Administrative Council and the Postal Operations Council of the UPU, which will allow it to influence international rules in the field of postal logistics and strengthen international cooperation.

CEVA Logistics opened the first TIR center in Alashankou for cargo transportation between China and Europe.

CEVA Logistics has launched its first international TIR centre in Alashankou, China, on the border with Kazakhstan. The new 4,300 sqm logistics hub is located in the E-Commerce Industrial Park within the Comprehensive Customs Zone and includes an additional 1,000 sqm area for handling hazardous goods. Local authorities attended the opening of the centre, emphasizing the importance of the project for the region.

KTZ Express sent the first container train from Shanxi to Azerbaijan via TITR.

KTZ Express successfully organized the multimodal transportation of the first container train from China’s Shanxi Province to Azerbaijan along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR). The train of 50 containers with photovoltaic modules weighing more than 1,150 tons departed from the Zhongding logistics center in Jinzhong and transited through Kazakhstan.

Air France-KLM has become the first airline to formally announce its intention to participate in the privatization of the Portuguese national carrier TAP Air Portugal. The company has stressed its interest in the process and confirmed its readiness to submit a bid once the Portuguese government has clarified the terms of the sale.
