RTSB launches new high-frequency rail corridors from Duisburg to Asia.

On July 7, the first Chengdu-Europe Express departed from the European logistics hub of Duisburg towards China, opening a new high-frequency rail corridor between Europe and the dynamic metropolis of Chengdu. RTSB, which operates the train, provides efficient multimodal logistics from the terminal in Duisburg to the Chinese hinterland. The cargo includes electronics, pharmaceuticals, German cars and European delicacies, highlighting the growing reliance on rail transport for perishable and high-value goods. The service reinforces Duisburg’s role as a key hub on the modern Silk Road with reliable schedules and streamlined customs clearance.

Azerbaijan Railways and Pakistan are discussing expanding cooperation within the East-West Transport Corridor.

The management of Azerbaijan Railways JSC (ADY), part of AZCON Holding, held a video conference with the Chairman of Pakistan Railways Syed Mazhar Ali Shah. During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for increasing cargo volumes, integrating ports, joint investment projects and developing transport routes through Azerbaijan and Pakistan within the East-West Corridor.

Kazakhstan and Afghanistan signed a memorandum on the construction of the Turgundi-Herat railway.

During his visit to Afghanistan, Kazakh Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu signed a memorandum of cooperation on the construction of a railway line between Central and South Asia. The document envisages the implementation of the Turgundi-Herat-Kandahar-Spin Boldak project, which includes two stages of construction and the creation of a transport and logistics center in Afghanistan.

KTZ and China Railways agreed on a new stage of strategic cooperation.

JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and the State Corporation China Railways signed a new Agreement on Strategic Cooperation, replacing the 2014 agreement. JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy set a new record for coal transportation by JSC Shubarkol Komir in June 2025.

In June 2025, a record volume of coal exports from JSC Shubarkol Komir was recorded through the KTZ network — 841 thousand tons, which is 26% higher than the average monthly figures for the current year. As noted by the press service of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, the achievement was made possible thanks to the coordinated work of railway workers and all participants in the logistics chain.

The European Commission has approved key stages for the implementation of the Rail Baltica project by 2030.

The European Commission has adopted a decision setting out key deadlines and milestones for the completion of the large-scale cross-border railway project Rail Baltica, which aims to significantly improve transport connectivity in the EU. The decision was unanimously supported by all Member States and marks an important step towards the full integration of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania into the European rail network by 2030.

ADY and China Railway expand cooperation to develop Middle Corridor.

On July 8, in Beijing, Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) Rovshan Rustamov met with President of China Railway State Corporation Song Shuyou. The parties confirmed the strategic importance of partnership in transit transportation, multimodal solutions and digitalization of processes.
