Container transportation of Ukrzaliznytsia increased by 28%.

In 2024, Ukrzaliznytsia increased its container transportation volume by 28% compared to 2023, transporting 258,185 TEU. The bulk of cargo was exported – 162,725 TEU (63%), import accounted for 55,689 TEU (21.3%), domestic transportation amounted to 38,681 TEU (15%), and transit – 1,190 TEU (0.5%).

voestalpine, LogServ and RCG have signed a long-term logistics contract.

voestalpine Rohstoffbeschaffung GmbH, Logistik Service GmbH (LogServ) and Rail Cargo Group (RCG) have signed a new logistics cooperation agreement that will enable the transport of around 10 million tonnes of raw materials and finished products annually over the next three years. The contract was concluded at voestalpine’s Linz site.

Azerbaijan and Iran strengthen cooperation within North-South framework.

Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC Rovshan Rustamov met with the head of Iran Railways Jabbar Ali Zakeri Sardroudi at a meeting of the Azerbaijan-Iran intergovernmental commission in Tehran. During the talks, the parties discussed the expansion of the cargo terminal in the Iranian city of Astara and the current progress at the facility.

GTS has launched a new train route Bari-Parma.

GTS has announced the launch of a new rail route from Bari to Parma, improving transport links between the south and north of Italy. The service will operate three times a week: from Bari on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, and from Parma on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

ADY Express and Hellmann Worldwide Logistics completed the first shipment along the Middle Corridor.

ADY Express, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways, together with Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, successfully carried out the first joint cargo transportation via the Middle Corridor. The container train departed from Chongqing (China) to Europe via Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan and Georgia. The train of 55 forty-foot containers with various cargo transited Azerbaijan and was divided into several directions.

Latvijas dzelzceļš is preparing to modernise its passenger infrastructure.

The state enterprise SJSC “Latvijas dzelzceļš” will announce tenders for railway infrastructure modernization projects on the Riga-Lugaži route. There are two major projects planned: modernization of stations on the Riga-Lugaži line (Jugla, Garkalne) and on the Riga-Lugaži-State Border section. An online consultation with suppliers will take place on January 21, 2025, via the Microsoft Teams platform.
