KTZ improved production indicators in July.

In July, KTZh LLP – Freight Transportation successfully fulfilled and exceeded all planned operational indicators. The total freight turnover amounted to 23.192 million net tonne-kilometers, which is 5.1% higher than the planned target and last year’s indicators. Loading reached 21.953 million tons, exceeding the monthly plan by 5.5% and the July 2023 level by 1.2%.

RTSB launches new railway route between Malaševic and Belgrade.

RTSB is launching a new regular rail route between Malaševicė and Belgrade, which will be operational in September. The weekly shuttle will provide fast delivery of goods in 3 days, connecting Malaševicė with the trimodal terminal in Pancevo, which will allow for flexible transportation by truck, rail or barge.

VTG supplies new hopper wagons to Mendip Rail.

On 5 August, the first of the HOA hopper wagons built for VTG by Greenbrier in Poland arrived at Whately station. These new HOA hopper wagons will replace the ageing LTF and O&K JHA models that have been in service with Mendip Rail for almost 35 years. The remainder of the order will be completed and delivered by May 2025.

Ukraine and the EU signed a memorandum on railway integration.

Ukraine signed a Memorandum with the European Railway Agency (ERA) aimed at integrating the Ukrainian railway system into the European space. The agreement provides for close cooperation in matters of technical harmonization of the railway systems of Ukraine and the EU, as well as expert and technical support for adaptation to European standards.

The construction of the second route “Dostyk-Moiynty” is 60% complete: the throughput capacity will increase fivefold.

The construction of the second track of the Dostyk-Moiynty railway line is nearing completion: 60% of the work has been completed so far. The project involves more than 1,000 people and 500 pieces of equipment. The work is being carried out under the supervision of Zhangeldy Asmiev, who is responsible for laying the road between Koktuma and Zhaipak.

Ukrzaliznytsia predicts a loss of UAH 2.7 billion.

JSC Ukrzaliznytsia expects a loss of UAH 2.7 billion by the end of 2024, despite a profit of UAH 3.1 billion in the first half of the year. The company experienced a significant drop in profit by UAH 1.7 billion in the first six months of this year.
