In early July, SIA Kronospan Riga, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of wood-based panels, completed the acquisition of the KS Terminal Ltd cargo terminal in the Port of Riga, becoming the sole owner of the company. This acquisition will strengthen Kronospan’s position in Northern Europe and create new strategic opportunities for the terminal’s growth.

HHLA TK Estonia introduces innovations and sustainable solutions at the Muuga terminal.

HHLA TK Estonia, a subsidiary of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG, is starting the grain season with innovations in handling and storage at the Muuga Port Terminal. The company has expanded its capacity by building three new storage bays and improving the automated entry and weighing systems. The largest warehouse operator in the region now offers a variety of pellet and grain storage options. The terminal has 86,500 m² of specialised indoor storage space and extensive outdoor areas. This expansion will enable the handling of up to 500,000 tonnes of cargo per year, strengthening the company’s position in the Baltic logistics sector.

Jan De Nul wins tender for construction of Anaklia port.

The Georgian government has announced Belgian company Jan De Nul as the winner of the tender to develop the Anaklia deep-sea port, the Economy Ministry announced on Thursday, and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze confirmed the decision. Jan De Nul was selected from four European companies with the best international reputations.

Luka Koper has announced the start of one of the company’s largest and most significant projects for the coming years. The state tender is for the construction of a container berth and additional storage facilities on the northern part of Pier 1. The deadline for applications is 30 September 2024.

Kazakhstan and Estonia strengthen cooperation in port infrastructure.

Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev and Minister of Infrastructure of Estonia Vladimir Svet held a working online meeting to discuss prospects for cooperation in the field of port infrastructure. More than 60 representatives of businesses, seaports and exporters of the two countries took part in the video conference.

The first methanol-fueled container ship has docked at the port of Muuga.

On July 22, HHLA TK Estonia received the first container ship running on raw methanol in the Estonian port of Muuga. The Eco Maestro of X-Press Feeder operates on the Green Finland X-PRESS (GFX) route, starting from Rotterdam, passing through Antwerp, Kotka, Helsinki (Vuosaari) and finally arriving at the port of Muuga, after which it returns to Rotterdam.
