Latvian and German partners signed a memorandum on digital innovations in the port industry.

A memorandum of understanding was signed in Hamburg between a number of Latvian and German organizations, with the leading Latvian telecommunications company LMT among the key participants. The document is aimed at developing cooperation and implementing digital solutions in the maritime and port sector, in particular in the field of infrastructure management and innovation in communications technology.

Global container fleet reaches record 32 million TEU as growth accelerates amid geopolitical challenges.

According to a new report from Alphaliner, the global container fleet capacity has exceeded the 32 million TEU mark for the first time. Since May 2024 alone, the growth has amounted to 8.9%, and over the past two years – almost 20%. Since the onset of the pandemic in 2020, the cumulative increase has reached 36%, which indicates an unprecedented dynamics of fleet expansion.

The Port of Gdansk strengthens its position in the Asian direction and receives an international award.

The Port of Gdansk once again confirmed its status as an important player on the global stage by participating in the prestigious Maritime Silk Road Port Cooperation Forum in Ningbo (China). The delegation from Poland, headed by Vice President Krzysztof Kaczmarek, was awarded the Multilateral Friendly Ports Partnership award, which was recognition of the almost 20-year strategic partnership with the Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan and the growing importance of Gdansk in global maritime logistics.

Marsa Maroc has implemented the heyport digital platform to optimize port operations.

Port operator Marsa Maroc has completed the implementation of the innovative heyport platform, marking a major milestone in the digital transformation of its Casablanca terminals. The solution was implemented in just 12 weeks and eliminated challenges related to manual coordination, disparate data and limited visibility of vessel calls. The system is integrated with Marsa Maroc’s TOS and the local port information system, minimizing manual input and reducing the risk of errors.

COSCO Shipping Europe launches new feeder service between Ukraine and Turkey.

COSCO Shipping Europe has announced the launch of the Black Sea Feeder Service (BFS), a regular sea route that will connect the Ukrainian port of Chornomorsk with the Turkish port of Kumport near Istanbul. The new service will provide a stable logistics connection for Ukraine to the global maritime transportation network, including destinations to the Far East.
