Calea Ferată din Moldova (CFM) and the Romanian rail operator Carpatica Feroviar Romania signed a cooperation agreement to develop cross-border freight rail transport. The document provides for the intensification of traffic through the recently opened Prut 2-Fălciu border crossing, which will be an important step in strengthening transport links between Moldova and Romania.

The agreement was signed during a working visit by a CFM delegation to Iași, Romania, led by CEO Serghei Cotelinic. The Moldovan side held talks with Carpatica Feroviar CEO Daniel Apostolache, discussing prospects for increasing freight volumes, optimizing tariffs, attracting commercial customers, and launching new routes, including the Prut 2-Fălciu-Constanța route.

Carpatica Feroviar is a new state-owned operator created as part of a government initiative to develop the national freight transport market. The signed agreement aims to improve the efficiency and reliability of rail logistics between the countries, as well as expand access for Moldovan exporters to the Constanta seaport.
