Container throughput at Chinese ports reached 220.5 million TEU in January-August 2024, up 8.2% year-on-year. This result highlights the growing momentum of maritime shipping in the country.
The Port of Shanghai saw a significant increase in volumes, handling 395.57 million tons of cargo, up 6.6% year-on-year. In August, the port’s container throughput increased by 7.9%, reaching 4.51 million TEU.
The Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan also saw significant growth, handling 3.6 million TEU in August, up 12.9% year-on-year.
