CMA CGM has added the first of four new vessels designed for car transportation to its fleet. The 200-metre vessel, with a width of 38 metres, can carry 7,000 cars on 12 decks and runs on liquefied natural gas (LNG), which is currently considered one of the most environmentally friendly options for maritime transport. LNG allows for a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, as well as harmful substances such as nitrogen and sulphur oxides.
During the first visit to the Port of Koper, the vessel was attended by the port’s management: Chairperson of the Management Board Nevenka Krzan, Members of the Management Board Gregor Belic and Vojko Rotar, Managing Director of CMA CGM Adriatic Cluster Bine Štancar, as well as the Ambassador of France to Slovenia, Her Excellency Florence Lévy.
