Logistics company Cobantur Boltas has launched a new rail route between Munich (Germany) and Halkali (Turkey). The first corporate freight train is being organised in cooperation with long-standing partner Kombiverkehr. Initially, it will run once a week in both directions, but a second route is already being considered.
The train covers around 2,000 km and crosses six borders without the need for container reloading. Compared to road transport, this intermodal route reduces CO₂ emissions by 70%, which is equivalent to saving 80 tonnes of carbon dioxide per round trip.
