One of the most important infrastructure projects has been launched in the port of Klaipeda – the construction of a modern cruise terminal has begun. The signing of a contract with UAB Tilsta became the starting point for the implementation of this ambitious initiative, the cost of which will be €43.9 million including VAT. The project is aimed at creating a smart and city-friendly infrastructure.

According to Algis Latakas, Director General of the Klaipeda Port Authority, the new terminal will combine the marine spirit, urban culture and recreation areas, becoming a significant attraction for residents and visitors of the city. On the allocated site in the central part of the port, the existing berths will be reconstructed, new ones will be built, and the swimming pools will be deepened to meet modern requirements.

The new terminal will become a venue for port events, an open amphitheater by the water, walking and cycling paths, and recreation areas. In the future, an administrative building with a cafe, a conference hall, an observation deck and a new marina for yachts will appear here. Completion of all works is planned within three years.
