The construction of the first container hub on the Caspian Sea coast has begun in the Mangistau region, which will increase the capacity of the Aktau port to 240 thousand TEU per year. Land management work is already underway, with more than 20 units of special equipment involved. The first stage is scheduled for completion by mid-2025.
The project is being implemented jointly by the Lianyungang Port State Corporation and the Aktau Sea Trade Port. The new hub will strengthen Kazakhstan’s position in international logistics, expanding the possibilities of transporting containers in the Trans-Caspian direction through Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. In addition, it will allow redirecting part of the cargo flow from China to Europe.

Container transportation through the seaports of Kazakhstan is already showing growth: since the beginning of the year, volumes have increased by 84% and reached 58 thousand TEU, and along the Trans-Caspian route, the figure has increased by 2.7 times.
