On January 6, 2026, Contargo will launch the first train of the new Straubing Nordhafen Shuttle service, which will connect the container terminal in Straubing, Bavaria, with German North Sea ports. Initially, the shuttle will operate three round trips per week on a fixed schedule, offering companies in the region a sustainable and environmentally friendly container transport solution. The first train will depart from Hamburg on January 6, and bookings are now open.

The Straubing Nordhafen Shuttle will depart from Hamburg regularly on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, arriving in Straubing on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, respectively. The service will operate year-round and provide coordinated connections via the Contargo terminal in Hof with onward connections to the Duisburg logistics hub and routes to the Benelux countries and France, expanding Bavarian shippers’ access to Contargo’s European intermodal network.

The container terminal at the Port of Straubing-Sand is operated by Contargo CombiTrac Straubing-Sand GmbH, a joint venture between Contargo and SFI GmbH, a member of the Schmid Group. The 50,000-square-meter bimodal facility is equipped with three rail tracks and a 1,000-TEU warehouse capacity. Its convenient location near the A3 and B20 motorways, as well as its central position in eastern Bavaria and the Straubing Sand industrial estate, provide the terminal with additional competitive advantages and efficient integration of rail and road transport.
