Contargo, based in Wörth am Rhein, has unveiled the inaugural battery-driven electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 customer vehicle, marking a milestone in e-mobility for container transport. Expected to cover over 800 kilometers daily in Wörth and its vicinity, the vehicle showcases Contargo’s commitment to innovation.
Being the first to embrace e-mobility opportunities, Contargo is leading the practical testing phase with the Mercedes eActros 600. With a battery capacity of 600 kilowatt hours and an efficient electric drive system, the vehicle boasts an impressive range of up to 500 kilometers on a single charge.
Joining Contargo in the testing phase, Remondis and several other enterprises will collectively trial approximately 50 eActros 600 vehicles. Serial production is slated to commence by the end of 2024, with Rhenus Trucking, a Contargo Group company, already placing orders for 20 units, demonstrating their commitment to integrating electric vehicles into their operations.
Future iterations of the eActros 600 will feature megawatt charging capabilities alongside the current CCS charging system, allowing for rapid charging from 20 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes at compatible charging stations. This advancement signifies a significant step forward in sustainable transportation solutions.
