In a series of strategic developments, Contargo achieved positive results last year, reinforcing its position as a key player in container transport in France. Contargo North France initiated a new container barge line in the Hauts-de-France region, facilitating two weekly round trips between Antwerp, Rotterdam, and the Dourges multimodal terminal. This expansion, coupled with the addition of a third large vessel, contributed to a 1.5 percent increase in transport volume, solidifying Contargo’s role as a regional barge container hub and maintaining its status as the foremost privately operated terminal in France.

Celebrating four decades of operations, Contargo Sàrl in Alsace, previously known as CCS (Combined Container Service), continued its commitment to expanding multimodal container transport options between the Upper Rhine and the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp by barge and rail since 1983. Additionally, Contargo Süd enhanced connectivity with the Basel-Westport-Shuttle, increasing its frequency to five round trips per week by the end of 2023. This rail transport link between Weil am Rhein’s inland port, Rotterdam and Antwerp further strengthens Contargo’s extensive network.
