The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ukraine, Seymur Mardaliev, met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Irina Borovets, to discuss preparations for the upcoming COP29, scheduled for the end of the year in Baku, as well as multilateral cooperation between the two countries. He also shared information about Azerbaijan’s humanitarian assistance and its initiatives in Ukraine.
This November, Azerbaijan will host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). The decision to hold COP29 was taken at the COP28 plenary meeting in Dubai last December. It is expected that within two weeks Baku, which has become the center of the world, will receive about 70-80 thousand foreign guests.
The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change was signed in 1992 at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. COP29 is an important event where decisions are made and measures are developed to curb climate change on a global scale.
