British company Davies Turner and Portuguese operator Torrestir have entered into a strategic cooperation agreement aimed at improving connectivity, increasing capacity, and reducing delivery times between the UK and Portugal. The new arrangement involves integrating road freight services with multiple weekly departures in both directions, connecting Torrestir’s logistics centers in Lisbon and Porto with Davies Turner’s regional hubs in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, and Glasgow.

The partnership covers FTL, LTL, and express services using curtainsider and box trailers, depending on the type of cargo. Customs clearance will be available both at both companies’ temporary storage facilities and at the border, thanks to Davies Turner’s Smart Border system. The new structure replaces Torrestir’s previous model with a single entry point in London, providing direct access to five UK hubs and improving customer service.

The companies also intend to develop cooperation in the ADR segment, which will enable the transportation of hazardous goods by road—a trend Torrestir considers promising, particularly for import shipments. Founded in 1870, Davies Turner is one of the largest independent British freight forwarders, while Torrestir, operating since 1962, is a leading logistics operator in Portugal. The partners already collaborate through Spain’s Salvat Logistics, forming a unified transport network on the Iberian Peninsula.
