DB Cargo has introduced a new Slovakia Shuttle service, which directly connects Žilina (Slovakia) via Ostrava (Czech Republic) with Halle (Germany). The journey time is just one day, making the route particularly convenient for companies handling metal products, pulp, consumer goods, and palletized cargo.

The train operates seven times a week, Monday through Saturday, and is integrated into the single-carload network of partner ZSSK Cargo, as well as into DB Cargo’s European EV network. Via Ostrava, the service also connects to the Polish rail system, and from Žilina, routes are available to Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, and Ukraine. A hub in Pardubice provides additional connections for industrial customers.

A distinctive feature of the new solution is the use of both standard freight cars and the ability to transport intermodal units. Furthermore, the purchase of an EffiShunter 744.191 locomotive with a mobile ETCS module will simplify shunting operations on-site. DB Cargo positions the Slovakia Shuttle as a fast, flexible, and environmentally friendly solution for cross-border logistics.
