DHL Express Portugal has opened a new terminal at Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport in Porto. The investment in the project exceeds €25 million, underlining the company’s commitment to the Portuguese market and strengthening its support for the growing export sector in the North and Center of the country.
The new facility, covering more than 18,000 square meters, triples DHL’s operational capacity at the airport, enabling it to handle up to 6,500 parcels per hour for imports and 5,000 for exports. The terminal is equipped with modern automated systems, such as X-ray machines and automatic weighing and measuring equipment, ensuring fast and safe handling of shipments.
DHL is also focusing on sustainability as part of the expansion. The new terminal includes 130 loading bays for DHL vans, 119 of which are prepared for electric vehicles. The building is equipped with solar panels, modern lighting and ventilation systems, underlining the company’s commitment to increasing the carbon efficiency of its operations.
