DP World, a global leader in logistics, and the prominent Indonesian conglomerate Maspion Group have initiated the construction process for a state-of-the-art container terminal in Gresik, East Java. This groundbreaking project aims to fortify East Java’s role as a pivotal trade hub, fostering connectivity between Indonesian businesses and customers regionally and globally.
The commencement of construction was commemorated during a momentous ceremony on October 2, 2023. Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, and Dr. Alim Markus, Chairman and CEO of Maspion Group, led the event. The presence of Mr. Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of Transportation, Republic of Indonesia, and Mr. Septian Haryo Seto, Deputy of Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, underscored the significance of this collaborative effort.
DP World’s strategic alliance with Maspion Group reflects a dedicated commitment to enhancing infrastructure and capacity in East Java, fostering smooth trade operations in the region. The joint venture, named DP World Maspion East Java, is set to manage a cutting-edge international container terminal with a design capacity of up to three million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU), thereby elevating operational efficiency and excellence in Indonesia. In alignment with DP World’s holistic approach to supply chain solutions, the JV will also develop an integrated industrial and logistics park adjacent to the container terminal, spanning an initial land area of 110 hectares, with provisions for future expansion.
