Ellerman City Liners, a GB Global company, announced the acquisition of Norwegian shortsea operator Viasea Shipping from ColliCare Holding AS. Founded in 2016, Viasea has established itself as a flexible and environmentally friendly carrier with scheduled services between the UK, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, and Lithuania, and offices in Moss, Rotterdam, Gdynia, Klaipeda, and Immingham.
The deal combines two niche brands, allowing Ellerman to expand its coverage of key European ports and strengthen the resilience of its services in challenging maritime conditions. Both companies will offer customers more reliable schedules, eco-friendly alternatives to road freight, and integrated multimodal solutions – including rail connections between Poland, Hungary, and Romania.
As part of GB Global, the combined team will gain access to a global network, investment in innovation, and scalable logistics capabilities. This strengthens Ellerman City Liners’ position in the international market and opens up new opportunities for the development of one of Europe’s leading short-sea transport operators.
