On November 8, Rotterdam, the Maritime Capital of Europe, marked its anniversary at the Europort maritime trade fair in Rotterdam’s Ahoy. During this celebratory event, it was revealed that the collaborative partnership, formed five years ago between Rotterdam Partners, the City of Rotterdam, Smart Delta Drechtsteden, the Port of Rotterdam Authority, Deal! Drecht Cities, and the Province of South Holland, will be extended for an additional two years.
Over the past years, substantial investments were directed towards online campaigns, trade missions, and international trade fair promotions, including significant participation in events like SMM Hamburg, Norshipping, Singapore, and London International Shipping Week. Working closely with the regional business community, educational and knowledge institutions, as well as industry associations such as the Rotterdam Maritime Business Services Community, Netherlands Maritime Technology, and PortXL, the collaboration has strengthened the regional positioning with the overarching theme “Rotterdam, Maritime Capital of Europe.” Looking ahead to 2026, the partnership is committed to sustained efforts in marketing and promotion.
The upcoming focus aims to attract new maritime companies, fortifying the existing ecosystem and positioning the region as an enticing destination for investment and trade. Additionally, the partners aspire to enhance the international standing of companies within the maritime cluster.
