FERNRIDE has become the first company to receive TÜV SÜD certification for an autonomous terminal tractor according to EU standards, as well as approval from the Estonian Transport Administration. This confirms that the FERNRIDE platform – including the tractor, sensors, software and cybersecurity systems – meets European safety and reliability requirements, paving the way for commercial implementation of the technology in Europe.

In partnership with HHLA TK Estonia, the company has been carrying out productive operations at the port since January 2023, gradually moving towards fully autonomous operation without drivers. Currently, three FERNRIDE tractors are in operation at the terminal, and the staff is being trained on the new standard operating procedures.

Hendrik Kramer, CEO of FERNRIDE, emphasized that the certification received is an important step not only for the company, but also for the entire autonomous logistics industry. In turn, HHLA TK Estonia noted that the introduction of autonomous technologies strengthens the terminal’s position as a digital leader and a platform for testing innovations.
